Yeah I originally wrote something less kind but decided to edit it. I hope you see my point though.
I saw in another thread that you're in Australia and you're right; knife prices are higher here. In my opinion the knives you've mentioned aren't going to serve you well. Sure they look cool but they're just not the best tool for what you want - even in your price range and with the limited selection you have in most retailers here. Put the black coating tactical look aside. Put the big glass breaker pommel aside too. If you want an outdoors/hunting knife then buy something made for the task.
You can pick up one of the Svord range of fixed blades for about $60. Chances are your local gun shop will have some. No they're not pretty but they're tough, hold a good edge - and most of all they were designed with realistic use in mind.
Ka Bar knives and Ka Bar Becker knives are tried and tested.
If you want something with a bit of tactical then save up and get an Esee 4. You should be able to find one for around $160 to $180. It will treat you very very well.
Cold Steel also has some solid knives close to your price range. The SRK comes to mind. I own one. Not the same quality as the Esee but still a pretty decent knife.
If you're determined to buy a Gerber - and if it makes you happy by all means do - then just do it. Depending on what you're doing to the knife, a full tang is worth a lot. The LMFII was made with a specific purpose in mind that didn't require a full tang. It's also very heavy for what it is. I personally wouldn't want to lug it around.
If you have more questions perhaps you should engage in one of the several threads you've started and ask some intelligent questions so people can help. There are reasons why people have given you the advice they have.
