And yes, I mean THE ASEK: http://www.gerbergear.com/Military/Knives/LMF-II-Knife_22-01627G2, from the Military line of Gerber, with the Infrared Resistant sheath and handle, obtained as a military surplus from a demonstration, in almost NM condition, only the black paint got scratched when some pipes were cut with it, someone has it for sale in my country and asks no more, no less than the equivalent of 159.14 (shipping included) USD in my country's currency, I can get the money but... does it truly worth it? Should I buy it or save my money for something else? Please I really need help here, I feel this could be the opportunity of a lifetime for me, but then again, it costs some good $$$ so I dunno? Need some arguments here ppl... please HELP.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that it is only avaible for sale until this Friday afternoon, than it's lost... So PLEASE need some advice here!!!

I hate to say it, but I can think of about a million knives I'd purchase before spending the money on one of those.

It is IR resistant, and quite frankly, I can't think of any other knife that has this feature... Not to mention that it's not exactly avaible whenever I decide, in the US it's only avaible with the required credentials, and I doubt Gerber will give one to the dealers in my country... So as I said, this could be a unique opportunity, but it's PRICEY... and I still need more advice people, what would you have done?

So, this brings me to my next question. If this "IR resistant" feature is important, may I ask what sort of super spec-ops tac-suit you have that also defeats military-spec thermal vision goggles? I mean, if you don't have one of those, then this feature is really useless to you since you'll be clearly visible anyway. I'm just saying.

So, my advice would be, buy a knife based on the features of the knife you want or need, not gimmicky BS like being "IR Resistant". I mean, are you a soldier? If you aren't, what possible use could that feature have for you? I'm genuinely curious.

I am a soldier, but not active duty, and I collect military/tactical knives, and this is something worth collecting considering it's IR resistant...
but still, the price is kinda high for my country!

Well put. "IR resistant" is the silliest knife ad copy I have heard in a long time. Up there with Dark Ops stuff....

Well, then none of us can really help you. If you want this knife for collectibility (I won't dog you, I've spent money on things that others would find questionable, plenty of times), then it's up to you to decide whether or not it's worth that asking price. If you just HAVE to have it for your collection, then frankly, you're going to pay the price. If you aren't 100% sold on it, then I'd say buy something else, or try to find this knife elsewhere for cheaper.

Ok, I do have to poke SOME fun. This guy's got one of those knives, right there on his belt! Gerber's right, you can't even see it!! LOL

LOL

To the OP, honestly you won't find much Gerber love here. Not saying your knife isn't a good one, but as has been said, there are many others that most of us would buy before we would consider one. It sounds to me like you've made up your mind and are waiting on someone to validate your opinion. Stick around long enough and you'll get a couple of folks who will swear it's a great knife. But the lack of a chorus of positive reviews speaks louder.

Only you can decide what's best for you. My opinion is for that kind of money there are many better choices but then I'm not in your situation.

Good luck on your search.
