Hi, My name is Ozzie and I need a recommendation. I need a knife that is durable and wont fail me, I want a knife that will last and comfort my needs. It will be used as a survival knife and a bushcraft knife. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I own both, unless stainless is a must go for the Rat. Honestly the LMF isn't that durable, the guard wears and cracks easily.

To be honest, I wouldn't go with either of them for "bushcraft", and between the two I'd go with the RAT5 every time.

For a survival knife, you want it to be full tang. The RAT5 is full tang, the LMFII is not. The RAT5 is made out of better steel, so it should be tougher, and hold an edge longer.

For my money though if I were looking for an affordable bushcraft or survival knife, I'd be looking at the Becker and Condor lines of knives. Both are very affordable and should suite you well.

Good luck :).

I have both, but my RAT-5 is in D2. I find the LMF II impractical for most applications, unless you are trying to extract yourself from a vehicle or aircraft. The blade is thick, has and holds a very mediocre edge, and it's very heavy. See if you can find yourself the RAT-5 in D2. It is a tough knife and more practical. The D2 stays sharp for a long time, but the trade off is that it is harder to sharpen than 1095. It's no featherweight either, though.

Thank you all for the help, it seems like the winner here is the RAT 5, we'll see when the package arrives :)
