Gerber LMF II question

Pardon the novice question, but what is the difference between the Gerber LMF II Infantry knife and the Gerber Tactical LMF II ASEK knife? They seem identical to me. Also, any feedback on either one? I'm thinking about getting one.

The ASEK knife comes with a web cutter and the infantry doesnt. Usually they are priced almost exactly the same. But if you buy the Infantry and decide you want the ASEK knife later it will cost you about $16. I would never use the ASEK cutter but I would get the ASEK knife over the infantry because you never know you may decide you want it someday.
If Gerber would make a plain edge version of this knife I would buy one but until then I'll just keep waiting.

It's a great knife. It does what it's designed to do, but it is heavy and tight in the sheath. I didn't like the serrated edge either.

I have an LMF and wonder if it's possible to have the blade reprofiled to eliminate the serrations.

I had one for a while but sold it. there was just something about the way it fit my hand i couldnt get into.

It seems like a common theme that people either don't buy the knife or don't like the knife as much because of the fact it's partially serrated. If you would like to see it offered in a plain edge, let's make it happen.

Email Gerber at: sales@gerbergear.com

I've sent them a few emails myself. If we get enough people to suggest this, they might consider a plain edge version.

PS - thanks to whoever first suggested this idea in a previous thread

I have one and carry it regularly when camping. It is a great all-around blade and is tough as nails. I actually got a new kydex sheath for it from Normark and it made a good knife great.

I've never like serrated edge knives. But, the Gerber LMF II has captured my attention. At this time, I'm not bothered by it on such a large knife. I wouldn't want serration on smaller knives, but for a survival knife, it seems reasonable to have an extra cutting type for needed situations. I just got mine 9/6/07, but hope to get it out camping and hunting soon. I like the idea of the class cutter for carrying in my truck should the need arrise in an accident. Any chance on a pic abiggs? Love to see your LMF II in the new sheath!

I agree - let's email Gerber. I can't understand why they don't make a plain edge version of these and other knives they offer.
