Hiya all,

I came across this place when looking for reviews about the Gerber LMF II. I've seen a couple of decent reviews for this knife, but I've also read alot of bad opinions about the Gerber brand.

I'm looking for a good knife that will hold it's edge without too much care, for use in camping/bushcraft. I don't want anything over 5.5" blade, preferably not serrated (but we can't have everything), and nothing that looks like I could take out a small village (no Rambo knives :)).

Do any of you who own the Gerber LMF II, recommend it, and if not, what do you recommend?

Thank you for your time. I ask because I value your opinions.

Do a search here for "LMF", you'll get quite a few threads about it.
I've only held one for a few but I do like it. If I was still jumping out of "perfectly good" aircraft I would have one strapped on. It was designed for military use with input from military users.

Thank you NIB.

I had searched for "LMF", "Gerber", and "Gerber LMF" and found some very good results. I was impressed by a couple of reviews, but then went on to read a few opinions about the Gerber brand in general.

Some people seem to dislike Gerber, a few say that there are a couple of good knives that are still decent - one of those being the LMF II. I just wanted an honest opinion about this knife specifically, from people who own the knife and have used other knives.

Is the Gerber LMF II a good knife for the purpose of camping and bushcraft? Can it hold a good edge, but not take too much in the way of care? I don't want to have to sharpen it constantly just to keep a decent cutting edge.

Also, what oil do you use to stop any corrosion of the blade? Would WD40 do?

Again, thank you for your time.
