Also curious about this knife aswell. It looks like a great knife but just want to make sure it is worth the money.

Pros and Cons??

Thanks,

Is that the Gerber LMFII? I've seen two models listed - $90 & $100 around the web. The Academy chain has them at $100 - behind the counter! Somehow, it intrigues me... made here - well, in Oregon! Probably a great bug-out bag resider.

Stainz

for what it is it seems a tad high, i'd be a lot more likely to buy one if it was a plain edge. if it's made here that's nice to know. it's on my pick up on if the price is right list.

I'd get one too if it were plain edged. I've emailed Gerber enought that they don't respond to me any more. Gerber has a knife called a prodigy that looks like the LMF but doesnt have the steel butt on it. I saw it on The Knife Centers web site but everyone may have it now. Its only $48 or so. But it is also serrated. Last time I checked it wasnt on Gerbers web site yet.

Its a great knife. The only problem I have with it is the sheath. The serrations don't bother me

I have had one since they came out. No down side that I have seen so far. IMO its a good buy and worth every cent.

yeh its going for $90 at most shops but i have found it online for $60 and am thinking about picking one up.

Yeh i agree Stainz it would probably be a good addition to any bug out bag as well as part of your survival gear.

JOHNU2....what are the problems with the sheath??

It can be a little hard to draw the knife out. Other then that, the sheath is pretty good. Its got a lot of attachment options and there's a built in sharpener that actually works.

The Prodigy supposedly does have a tang extension that can be used as an impact device.

I'll say, if you can live with the serrated edge, for 40 bucks or so that knife really looks like a great value.

I have had the Gerber LMFII for about 6 months and have used it quite a bit, I would even consider that I've abused it a bit. It holds a edge very well and is quite strong, blade is 3/16". The sheath is amazing on it and well worth the money, I bought mine on eBay and got it shipped to me for $73. I wanted to get the new foliage green version but I just ordered the Gerber Prodigy after finding that. I will report back to you guys about it when I get it and use it a bit. It's a little smaller and I wanted to compare the two, doesn't seem to be any info on the knife yet.

Back to the LMF: Blade serrations are fine with me, It's quite large to skin smaller game but I can make it work. It's the ever ending quest to find the best Survival knife for me and the LMF is quite good. If you want to see the knife take some abuse look at some videos on you tube look for lmf or asek destruction it's quite impressive to see what it can take.
