I did all the handle work, the recurve was done by a local cutler, for $5.00.

The coyote brown handle took almost an hour to grind with a carbide wheel, I believe it is sandvik steel.

It does.

I had to stop grinding at that point I had been going at it for so long.

The cutler gets alot of business from people I recomend to him so that's probably why he did the work so cheap.

Does the new egde feel better to use than the older edge? Also, does the blade still feel as strong as before, considering the narrowing of the width at the regrind? I've been thinking about doing the same, but am a little afraid to do so. Glad you've done it so I can see how it turned out.

Well, I've cut some boxes with it and the steeper angle combined with the fresh edge cut very well ... It feels like a much more usable knife now, the stock combo edge has twice as much serrations as I personally think is neccessary, but I told my guy to just get rid of all of them. It's nice to be able to really use this knife now.

Apparently the knife only lost 0.1g, [one tenth of a gram] in the regrinding process although I don't know what the reground one weighed before, so I would expect little or no loss of strength, although it looks to the eye like there might be.

The handles seem to have exactly the same amount removed so I expect the measurement to be a fair representation.
