I'm curious about the Gerber LMF. I didn't find it on Gerber's website. What is the steel, & what's its value? Anyone recommend it?

Boyd, first, welcome aboard.
Second, the LMF is a discontinued model. Steel is 420 or 440A. I have never seen its steel advertised. It is quite a strongly (maybe over-) built heavy knife that was made with a survival knife in mind. I am not sure about its current price but I would consider one of the Camillus Becker carbon steel fixed blade knives if I was out for a strong outdoor knife.

Hi,

The L.M.F. & B.M.F. started out as 440A, and then changed to 425M. As to value, check Ebay, as there seem to be enough of them left in the pipeline. I would guess it would be in the $100-150 range based on options,condition,etc....:).

HTH:D:).

I had a BMF when they first came out and I LOST it! How the hell you lose a knife that big is beyond me, but I managed to do it. I always missed that knife. It had a nice foam grip that was never duplicated in other knives I've seen.:(
