Gerber Mark 1 Question

Years ago I had a Gerber Mark 1 that had a leather sheath and traded it off. I ran across a good deal on another one about 5 years ago and bought it more or less for nostalgia. This one came with a Nylon sheath. Any idea what steel this were made? Were they 440C?

The Mk 2 were 440A & 440C. Not sure about Mk 1. Early Mk 2 were L6 carbon steel. My guess would be 440C.

It depends on the year it was made. Google Gerber MK 1 serial number dates and you should find the info you want.
