Gerber Mark 1 question

I recently attended a gun/knife show and a dealer had a gerber mark 2
with what appeared to be a original sheath meant to go on a harness or
web belt. The serial number was 54,235 and he was asking 100 bucks.
I passed because I don't know much about gerbers. should I have bought?

100.00 seems a little high unless it was a vietnam made era one, in mint , or almost mint.

Levines guide, while it is not too useful in collector's values, has some good history, and pattern numbers and the years etc. I believe I have seen a guide in his book on the gerbers. i would check that out, it could give you a date of manufacturer. Without having much else to go by, its hard to say. You may have saved yourself some money?
