Gerber Mark II Repair Help

I've got a Gerber Mark II.. It's been in my care for 15+ years after it was given to me by a family member.
I have kept it in a closet oiled and dry for the last 10 years and had it out in November, it looked fine then...
I pulled it out to show my son the other day and it was covered in lite rust and the handles finish is starting to bubble and chip.
Although I know it's not vintage, but because of it being giving to me by a family member I'd like to get it back to what it was.
Anyone got a suggestion on who could help with this?
I truly want to have it cleaned-up and repaired, but I don't have allot to put on this... any Idea of what it could run?
Thanks!

I would use 320 grit wet/dry paper to bring back the brushed look.

Closer pics of the grip.

If it is peeling the the aluminum is corroding.

If thats tha case ..Bead blast and AlumahydeII the grip

Before you put any sandpaper to the blade, get some 0000 steel wool and scrub the blade with it-dry.
It will probably remove all the rust. Afterwards, oil the blade.

Once it's cleaned up and oiled, I would advise against storing it in the sheath. Wrap it in wax paper or fashion a cardboard sleeve for the blade. Sheaths have a tendency to retain moisture and hold it in contact with the blade.

Thank you!
But I'm kinda timid about fixing the handle myself. Truly the blade as well.
Anyone out there good at restoring Blades.
I hate to see this one just become a another abused blade by me... :(

for the blade.
Going with the length.. Tip to guard.

Green Scotch brite pad or 0000 steel wool
and a can of Kroil. WD40 will work to
