Gerber Mark II Strange Combination

I have a mint in the box Mark II that according to the chart was manufactured in 1977. The knife has the grey armorhide handle. The sheath has the stone pocket but it does not have the wire hook at the top to connect to a web belt. It doesn't even have a channel sewn into the sheath where a wire could have been. It came from the factory finished off at the top but it has two slits in the upper part so you can wear it on you belt. It is stamped Gerber like all the other Mark II sheaths. I thought all the Mark II sheaths had the web belt hanger at the top except for maybe the Mark II dive knife. Any ideas?

Not sure about this...but I have had Mark II's with out the web attachment. Got any pics or the knife?
