Does anyone know where to get a good clone of the Gerber MarkII? Explorer made a nice one but those are gone also.

And some things should.

I'd like to see that and the Guardian in good steel myself. The older Gerbers along those lines are getting pricey (sometimes).

The SOG Daggert is vaguely reminiscent of the Mark II. I wouldn't mind seeing them done again using the latest steels and technology or maybe a limited Damascus run.

No clones but similiar:

SOG Desert Dagger
Cold Steel Peacemaker
Kershaw Trooper Dagger

There are actually a few others out there... some better and many worse than the above.

I thought I really wanted another MkII to replace the one I "lost" in my youth, but, considering their legal status in most places I visit, I've stuck with other knives. (I couldn't resist that pun!) Good luck!

That's so true.

So what's gone, is gone.
And what remains would include
The Ek stilettos

and the F/S fighting knives

I've seen copies of the mark 11 from China, but what's the point? Like a Randell or a Ka-Bar, it's the fact it is a Gerber Mark 11, why it was designed and the history of the design that makes it what it is. Mine is pride of my collection, it's the knife when shown gets the most attention. Its hardly a useable knife, its one of those knives when you pick it up gives you shivers down the spine, save up, get an original, it part of your history!!!!

Guess I'm fortunate, I've got an old original Mark II and a couple of old EK's. All are on reserve status, never been used. They are my "just in case" blades. Those Ek's are the sharpest knives I've ever encountered.
I wouldn't like to see them copied. Would rather see someone come up with a fantastic new blade in a great steel.

Not a copy!!!

That is the most wonderful knife in the world to me. I wish Gerber would have never quit making it.

"Gerber Mark II
We recently received in the mail from our friend George Dillman a copy of the original booklet included with every Gerber Mark II knife. George received this knife in June 1971 prior to his shipping overseas. The booklet is dated 10/70 and does not have information on the serrated blades. The knife George has that was included with this paperwork is serrated. At this point in the brochure it wasn’t even an option they included. The serial number of the knife George has is 020937 so it must be one of the first to have the serrations. Thanks George for the copy of this booklet and the information on your knife!"

And that's why its a classic!
The Gerber Mark II - often duplicated but never quite equal.
