I just received this item in the mail today and I cannot say I am exactly thrilled with this knife. It looks beautiful but the action on the spring is rough and the safety button has a tendency to kinda get stuck.

The G-10 handle looks cool but it feels really rough in the hand. The pocket clip appears to be fine...but the spring.. oh my goodness the spring sounds terrible! I have the newer one with the g10 handle.

Does anyone out there have this knife? Do you like it? I'd probably give it like a 6-7/10 overall.

Quick question. If the spring breaks, is it just basically becomes a normal knife where you have to open it manually?

thanks for ur time

Thats about normal for a Gerber. Usually they have a few very decent designs, but they tend to be hit or miss execution wise. Once the spring breaks it will still function as a non assisted folder, but it would probably be best to call Gerber as they do have a good customer service department despite making a few somewhat crappy knives for the price.

If you like assisted openers take a look at Kershaw, they make knives that will give more bang for your buck and are in a similar price range.

That said, the mini covert is one good looking knife.
