Saw a Gerber MK II at SHOT today, they said that they get asked about it all the time so they are making it again.

This may be old news or already reported....

where was it made, what steel did they use,how was overall build quality, what kind of sheath? just curious, i always thought the pattern was cool but useless for anything other than sentry removal.

I have bought and sold many of these and kicked myself after selling off a perfect Cutlery Shoppe example I had. Sure hope that Jeff gets a special run with the gray cats tongue again.

Dan

I still kick myself for not getting one back when smkw had them for 69.99. Unless the price is just insane I will be getting one as soon as possible.

LOL bro, lets be honest here, 99% of the folks on this site don't do anything but rub their knives with a soft diaper and then put them back up....unsheathed. :D

You can't forget letter opening, thread snipping and box cutting. One can only use the finest steel, the greatest works of modern weaponry for such tasks. Baser things like cleaning game or carving wood or other menial work should be done with cheap, disposable blades, as they would only demean the better knives.

(I kid because I love and self-depreciate; my Okapi sees more use than my Emerson, because I'm still a little squeamish over using a expensive knife. Irrational, I know.)

I hope it is U.S. made. I like the idea of the grey cats tongue grip. Maybe they will make it WITHOUT serrations as well.

Keeping fingers firmly crossed that neither "CHINA" nor "400 series" steel appear anywhere near this knife when it comes out... :(

Aweosme!! I got a Gerber Mark II from 1978 mint in box, IMO the COOLEST, and NICEST Gerbers ever made. They should also get the Mark I back in Production.

I'm just speculating but I'm pretty sure that it'll be US made. I've never seen any of the higher end Gerbers made in China. Plus the Gerber Guardian/Mark is one of America's most iconic knives, (2nd only to the Kabar in fame, in my opinion).

i hope they dont cheap out on it. if its a decent piece, i gettin one. hope they use the leather sheaths again.

Remember when the Cutlery Shoppe had Gerber make them a special model with the gray cat's tongue handle, canted blade as well as with and without serrations. They came with the Blackie Collins Cordura sheath though. I bought one new for around $80 and sold it for over $300 on the bay. If the Cutlery Shoppe gets Gerber to do that again, they will have a winner for sure!
