At Christmas ran across someting I haven't seen before. I pick up a few to give as gifts but decided to keep at least one for me. It's Gerber Multi-LITE tool. It has pretty much the same stuff as a Gerber Multitool, but no pliers. But they added a small lite, Fiskers and a cork scew. I have used it almost everyday since I got it. This thing it GREAT!!!! But I have ever seen them before. Are they something new from Gerber or have I just not seen them before?

I had not heard of these either. I did find a lot of links to descriptions of the tool, going back to about 1998. But, Gerber no longer lists it on their web site. I suspect that it is an older model that has been discontinued.

I'm curious, what kind of batteries does it use, and where does the battery go? I couldn't tell from the pictures, but it looks pretty flat, so they must be watch batteries.

yes it does use a watch battery. There is a button on top that you hold down, that keeps the lite on. You just take the button off and the battery pops out. I think it's a neat little tool!!!

Fruitbat,

there're not new ... i got mine 'bout 3-4 years back .... neat little tool .... cause you can detach the lite from the tools ..... mine's with the removable hacksaw blade ..... wish that the put those Fiskal scissors in more multi tools cause its very useful .... mine also came with some small toothpick and screwdrivers in a neat compartment .....

They are a neat tool with lots of stuuf in a small package. Iplan to put a extra battery in the compartment, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
