I just got one of these, but won't get to try it out until the end of Sept. My busy schedule as spared many fish from my frying pan.
Anywoo, for years I've been using a plain ol Gerber needle nose Multi-tool when I got fishing. It's always worked great for me for getting hooks out plus any other reel repairs, etc. Recently I saw one of these and thought it might be as good if not better. Has anyone else tried one of these. If so, was it good or bad?

Well this seems to be my own personal thread......LOL This weekend I'm finally going to get to try this thing out. I'll post a report when I get back.

Hey fruitbat,
Just wanted to get into this thread so you didn't feel so lonely. I have a Gerber Multi-Plier 600 Fisherman. I really like the extra-long needlenose pliers, and I love the carbide inserts for cutting wire. I'm not a fisherman, but it seems like an ideal design for a person who is.

I am soooo looking forward to trying it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like Bob I have one of these but do not use it . Something else that you might want to check out if you have not already . There is/was an opitional kydex type sheath for these that provided a " quick draw " , as you pulled them out released the plier head so that It was ready to use once drawn out .

Ok I finally went and put to the test. I've got to say I really like it! Everything I used on the tool worked just as it should. It was used quit a bit over a 3 day weekend of pier fishing. We got there Friday night at 10:00 we left at noon Sunday We where off the pier for a total of 10 hours. We got 8 hours of sleep over 2 nights and went to eat at a local reastarant for maybe 2 hours. The rest of the time I was on the pier. We had 12 people in the group. Some had very little equipment and/or experance pier fishing, so I helped them as much as I could. So the tool saw lots of action helping myself and others. The only bad side is getting used to the extra length of the pliers. I almost killed one undersized fish I caught. I went too deep in the throat trying to get the hook out. Had I not been carefull, I would have killed the fish.
I also found out how bad it hurts to get bit by a Blue Fish....OUCH!!!!
