Hi all,
I gave a trial to the (new) Gerber BG Ultimate Survival Pro

it's a serious survival tool, all the package (knife, sheath, sharpener, firesteel, whistle, emergency pocket guide) it's really well done IHMO.

Cheers,

I expect a mass of naysayers who BG down by default will turn up shortly which is unfortunate as this knife looks pretty good, vastly better than the last one and reviews from those who have actually used / tested one have been positive.

It looks like Geber have delivered a very capable knife to encourage new comers to the hobby / great outdoors - all good IMO.

Thanks for the review.

Thanks for the thorough review and the photos are very vivid.

It seems they really sat down to significantly improve and enhance it from the previous model.

Looks like it's better constructed than the first version. I'll be interested in hearing how well the handle holds up over time.

Thanks mate! :-)

Good review! I own an original BG Ulitmate Survival knife and it's held up well. I keep it under my car seat in case of an emergency.

I like mine, just wish that while they were making improvement, they had used a metal snap instead of velcro on the handle retention strap, granted the sheath still uses friction to hold the knife in, so even if the velcro wears out, or comes undone, I doubt the knife will fall out, but I'm just not a fan of velcro for retention.

Other than that, it's a decent knife.
