Anyone have any experience with this one? It looks like just a downgraded LMFII. Thinking about trying it out.

My son had one and we like it. There are some variations betwwen the prodigy and the lmf. The serated sections seem to not be the same leangth and the finish seems different. The lmf seems to have a better fit and finish but the prodigy feels better in my hand.

i just bought one for $23 from work, we got them on clearance price, its going to be my BOB(bug out bag) knife the sheath is nice and, its not heavy at all but then again what is heavier than an LMF, i can think of a few not many but a few.

those knives have a strong 'family resemblance' to the discontinued Becker knives.. IMO, the grind just happened to catch my eye..

Thanks for the comments and the review. This really helps. I am alomost covinced to get one yet I might as well put in the extra money and get another LMFII

i own two LMF II knives and one Prodigy. both have their advantages and disadvantages.

i think that the LMF's are for strapping on when you go deep into the wilderness as it has far more heft and features than the smaller one. the Prodigy is more for when you are just out for a nice walk in the woods or as a BoB knife that will help you move faster in an emergency, ounces count.

i used to carry the LMF small game hunting with me as the best serious knife i had for emergency, now i can carry the much lighter Prodigy and save the big one for big game and emergency events.

Knives are very similar to golfclubs, you need one for every occasion... Right? So basically, yes, they are worth the purchase. - Eric

The Prodigy really does seem like a good value; only couple of things about it that stop me
from buying it are all those serrations and the big "thumb ramp" on the handle.

But those are just personal dislikes...
