Hi, all,

Does anyone have info on this knife? They can be found at Wal-mart for $19.97. I assume the steel is 440? I can't find it anywhere else but Wal-Mart and it doesn't appear to be on Gerber's site. Thanks for your time. :)

I have recently contacted Gerber in regards to the types of steel they use. If it isn't all ready stated, then the steel is 420HC. Gerber has had a terrible time keeping thier steels straight. First there was the EZ Out fiassco with the 440A/ATS-34 mix up, then there was the Mini-Covert 154Cm/AUS6A confusion. Anyways, this model resembles the new folder called the Fire...something. I wonder if it is the fixed blade version.

Frankly, Gerber disappoints me. I use to love their stuff when I was a young lad in the late 80's. It was all made in America, and alot of it was cutting-edge for the time; they were innovators. Now they have become, primarily, a second rate company that follows other companies leads and makes cheap imitations of stuff. They still make SOME quality stuff, but nothing innovative or original. Money makes ya' do sucky stuff some times. With Benchmades new 'import' knives, I hope they aren't planning on going this same route. :(

Thanks for the info! :)

Wunderbar,

The folder you are referring to is the Firestorm. Looks somewhat like the Profile and alot like the Camillus Heat...
