walmart has a new gerber in. aus 6 steel but it is made in tiwain.
i have cocerns about buying a quality knife made there.
Can any one give me a review of this knife.
I also have had no dealing with a blade that is only sharpened on one side.
I do not know this knife, but AUS6 is an average steel and some nice knives are made in Taiwan. If you get the chance to hold this knife and think it is pretty good, you might find it be worth taking a chance on.
I saw knife ads for this knife in several issues of Blade last year. They were marketed under the brand name "Survivor" and the knife was called the "Cute" knife. To me it was basically an attempt to cash in on the CRKT/Halligan KISS concept. Now it has the Gerber name attached to it. Go figure.
Hello J, here's a pic of the Ridge Skeleton under another brand name. This one is under the brand "Yukon Bay" by Valor.
They are the same knives, except that the one you refer to (Gerber's) is coated in black teflon. Personally, If I wanted a knife of this type with AUS-6 steel, I'd get the CRKT KISS. Now, don't let the Taiwan stamp turn you off as there are alot of wonderful knives being made there of great quality like those by CRKT, Outdoor Edge, Timberline, Tigersharp, Gigand as well as the Gerber International line. I just feel that Gerber's Ridge Skeleton knife is basically a variation of the CRKT KISS and has already been marketed by other importers.
