Just came across the above. Has anyone else seen any word on this? If i can find one I would need some discouragement as to why it wont be good.
 
Other than the bump in price, I can see no reason for it to be bad. They don't list the hardness of the blade, so I would wonder if they ran it a bit softer for toughness over edge holding?
 
I have the 420HC version. It's a good knife, but it's a "generalist" design. Does everything pretty well, but isn't stellar at any particular usage.
Figure out what you want the knife to do. If edge holding is a major factor in that usage, then the Magnacut version might be worthwhile. But for a "general outdoors knife", likely not worth it.
 
There is a 420 hc stone washed non coated model if you want a non coated but still Strongarm strong.
