Gerber Tac II

I have a Tac II that the push rod that releases the knife came out. It looks like it had a small snap ring on the bottom. I unscrewed the "catch" but no snap ring inside.
Does anyone know if this does take a snap ring on the rod, or is it something else?

The way I understand it the bechmark gerber tac had two set screws in the side of the sheath....i looked on my 90's tac and did not see any set screws. I would try to contact gerber. Sorry couldnt be of more help.
