saw a gerber gator on amazon.com for $35 sheath included. it is made of 154cm. i am assured it is usa made. for someone who has never owned a chunk of 154cm, how does gerbers 154cm stack uo to others?

Well, 154CM pretty much all comes from the same place. The secret in variance from brand to brand is in their chosen way to heat treating the blades. I've used a Gerber Gator in 154CM and it was a great knife. I think I paid around $25 for mine abut 4 years ago. It's perfectly serviceable knife for the money. Great value there.

Couldn't have said it better.

Gerber makes some good products. You just gotta sift through them. Ones i have & love are: Freeman folder w/pear wood handles, Metolius fixed blade & a 1082 Mark II survival knife (which is really only good for dispatching the enemy---whoever that may be), don't know WHY they called it a survival knife.

Ones i have & hate are: the small skeleton folders-3 sizes.

I have no opinion or advice on the knife.
I just wanted to inquire after the rest of the Addams................
It has been a while. :D
