Gerber Watson Harsey Silver Trident, what is the guard made of?

It would be metal, don't know if it's painted aluminum, steel or brass (doubt it would be brass).

The guard on mine is plastic like zytel or something. Feels really tough but it will flex.

I have one. It's some zytel type plastic like JTC said. That whole Hytrel handle design that they have on it, I have to say is pretty awesome. Grippy, durable, lightweight, and comfortable. The 154CM the blade is made out of is sharp and holds an edge better than some other 154CM knives I have. It's a spendy knife though. I'd recommend getting your hands on one before buying it. It's a very specific purpose knife. I used mine in a pinch one time to skin a big hog we shot, and I have to admit it did a pretty darn good job and I avoided cutting myself with the double sided blade in the process. I carry mine sometimes while archery hunting for feral pigs. All the Gerber haters can chime in any time now.

I like mine as well. I haven't used it much but it seems very well made and the handle is very comfortable. If you miss the knives Gerber made before Fiskers bought them this knife is made in the old style in my opinion. Unique interesting design and nicely made.
