Personally, I'd e-mail Gerber's customer service BEFORE I sent it in for repairs -I think that most of their newer stuff is made "off shore" and I don't think at 25years old the parts would still be available for your tool even though the 600's are still around - but ask anyway BEFORE you send - I have a 600 series in black with a fuse crimping notch, USA made and I know I would not send that in. Go to the Gerber website and contact customer service - I had an issue with the sheath for a Suspension MT - and they replaced it within a week, but that's just a new sheath. The point is -they do get back to you in a reasonable time. My black 600 is "retired" but I do like the Suspension and have not had any other issues with it. Some folks refer to Gerber as "POS" - I don't have a real problem with their stuff at all and I do use Leatherman's products as well.
