Hello guys, I found several Gerbers in China, not very expensive, they are 01589 Big Rock, 1795, 1120. The seller told me they are made in China. I've no idea whether they are fake. I'd like to know are these Gerbers really made in China? Thx!

Yes they are. Beyond that we don't know much more as Gerber keeps their steel and everything else about their knives a mystery.

It's my understanding that most Gerbers are made in China.
Gerber's target customer is folks who shop at big box stores, so to them, price is everything.

That being said, I've read in posts hereabouts that the Big Rock is a decent knife for the price.

I recently picked up the Buck 373 Trio and 379 Solo,, those are made in China as well...I wanted a stockman model but couldn't pass them up for $20

Yep, if it says they're made in China, they're probably made in China.

The Big Rock is actually a really decent knife for the price, imho. I've had one for a while that I abused a bit and have been making some lignum vitae handle scales for - much better knife than I expected. Really abusable to boot.

Gerbers made in China?
Outrageous!

Next step would be taking a popular fake-survival-actor and sell cheap china knives with his name on it for the hundrethfold of productioncost.
Oh wait...

A few of those cheaper Gerbers are actually not bad for the money as long as you don't ask to much of them. But for lite EDC tasks they do well and every one I have owned have been real easy to sharpen (and you will have to sharpen them from time to time because they don't hold an edge that long, but thats what you can expect at the price point.)

The only Gerber in my collection is a Freeman folder. Cabela's has this version as an exclusive, and the blade is stamped USA S30V. Comes with a heavy duty leather pouch. I have a number of much more expensive knives, but for the price, it's a great deal for $99 IMHO.
