I’m could be be wrong, but I think the Becker line up is using 1095CV sourced from Germany instead of USA. Is this true, and has anyone noticed a difference in Steel quality between the two different sources? I haven’t used my BK2 hard enough yet to make a discernible difference.

I doubt there's much of a difference, if the 1095 to chromium and vanadium ratio is the same. KA-BAR would still be doing the heat treat.

Then again, I'm no steel guru.

I didn’t think there would be. I was doing good long once over of all my knives, and I deduced that Beckers have the best ergonomics for my hands. I never dove into the 1095 “CV” that makes a Becker. Figured I’d get me some insight.

Yes, that's why they had to stop marking the blades with USA, since it's german-sourced steel.
That’s a little disappointing. Don’t get me wrong, I love my Solingen Boker’s; it’s just that in my mind’s eye Becker’s should be made in the USA, everything about them. I’m a realist though, I understand maintaining manufacturing costs and how the pandemic wreaked havoc on the supply chain.

I agree, but as long as the quality is there then I’m a happy camper.
