Hello All,

Attached is another knife in my collection. It seems like a good quality knife. Having said that, although I have a few hundred knives I know very little about them. Chances are the members here will cut me down to size and tell me its a piece of crap.

Ivory rule included for eveled.

Looks like an Edge Mark Bowie.
The sheath and stamping are indicative of those used by Edge Mark. Maybe a "447" or one of the "400" series

Not a piece of crap at all. A nice Solingen Bowie.
That being said, quite a few of these were made. Not that it matters for a user knife. Clean it it up and use it, there is plenty of life in the knife yet. You could do a lot worse.

O oinkitt Can you make out what is says above Solingen Germany? It looks like Wahler or something similar. That would help narrow it down.

I tried saving it and blowing up the pic in paint, I couldn't make it out. Then again I'm no vintage knife expert either.

Someone more knowledgeable will chime in.

Your knife was made by Widder in Solingen, Germany.
The guard used to be straight, not bent on one side.
For me Widder knives fall into a lower category of Solingen made knives, with blades sometimes visibly consisting of different grades of metal.
Edge taking & holding is also not as good as certain other Solingen brands.
