Quick question...I recently purchased a "German Bull Brand" hunting knife model GB-101 with gut hook. The knife looks pretty nice but I am wondering if it is in fact "Made in Germany".

The box states "Hand Made Germany" and the blade says "German Stainless Hand Made". I am a little leery because no where is the word "in" used (i.e.
Made in Germany). Also wonder if the handle is in fact real stag.....

Are these knives really handmade in Germany or have I been taken for a ride?
I paid $29.99 for the knife and have seen similar models for up to $150+
U.S. on the internet.

Any information you have would be appreciated.

Thx

I have wondered the same things. Just got a 3-1/2" swingguard from them in stag, and it's kinda gray and not too great looking for stag. They are the cheapest German knives I've seen, so maybe we're just getting what we payed for! I'm pretty sure it's real stag, not as sure about being "made" in Germany.

I have a Sodbuster that didn't cost much but he stag is fat and very nice indeed. The stainless blade is OK and the fit good.

Frankly, I suspect they are Chinese but if that is the case, why not come out of the closet? There are plenty of reasonable and even good knives from China. I don't like this deception, if it is one....

I'm pretty sure this is a fraud maintained by Frost Cutlery. They have either bought or just started using some older German brands. they love to brag about how they have rights to buy "Solingen steel". No steel is made in Solingen.

I am amazed at how little info there is out there on this brand name. One site I did find said they are Handmade IN Germany and that the company makes high quality knives at affordable prices.

My skepticism is growing.........still waiting for a definitive answer.

I emailed Frost Cutlery yesterday and asked for clarification regarding where the German Bull knives are made. I have yet to hear back from them. Will continue to email until I get a reply.

Frost Cutlery does apparently own the name "German Bull".

But nowhere on the Frost website does it say that "German Bull" knives are "Made in Germany!

http://www.frostcutlery.com/default.aspx?content=list&list_type=brand&id=114

Seven pages of German Bull knives, and not one described as "Made in Germany".

Hmmmmm...

Contrast that with the Hen & Rooster brand, which is also owned by Frost Cutlery.
Each & every Hen & Rooster knife on the Frost Cutlery website is described clearly as being made in Germany.

Why would Frost Cutlery describe its Hen & Rooster knives as being Made in Germany, but not describe its German Bull knives as being Made in Germany?

I suspect it's because they aren't.

I emailed Forst twice and they replied back today and told me the GB-101 I purchased is made in Germany.

Still begs the question, why not advertise that up front?

Anyone else have any insight?

The knife is pretty well made albeit the fit and finish is not perfect but for the price I am pleased.

Howdy, B.C. here, I also have been curious about the "German Bull" brand and I suspected that it was a Frost Cutlery product. I've often wondered about Frost products. Since it's inception after "Parker-Frost" split they seem to have used many manufacturer/seller practices to sell their products. All very legal and I have nothing bad to say about Frost. I purchased a dozen "New Old Stock" knives from them circa 1988. Two were marked "Surgical Steel, Japan" as well as the Frost Hawk and shield. The other ten were marked "Solingen Steel" "Germany" and the Frost markings, but on the back of one of the smaller blades there is a printed "Pakistan". So I assume that the blades must come from Germany and they are put together in Pakistan. This is a common practice today in the world market, however most are very forthcoming about the practice. I would like to know exactly how the knives are made and where. I have nothing against Pakistan or China or ? Quality is Quality, but it may take decades to know if they're quality or not. Any and all info is greatly appreciated!
