Hello all,
I’ve been lurking on here for many years, and as a small ‘thank you’ for countless hours spent reading all the interesting contributions here, I figured I would post some stuff of my own. So here we go.
This axe is an older style german firefighters axe. It almost landed in the scrap metal container as my rural Bavarian volunteer fire department cleared out the old firehouse before moving into our new location. So naturally, I took it home to give it some love and hang it on my wall. It’s all chainsaws and halligan tools now.
Based on the forging stamp I managed to date it to mid 1980’s at the latest, because that’s when the forge ceased operations.
The difficult/fiddly bit was getting the two steel overstrike/anchors fitted correctly when tapping down the handle.
I also own a small german firefighter’s/pioneer M1898 belt hatchet (‘Beilpicke’), (which is missing the overstrike/anchors unfortunately) and a stainless steel german butcher’s Axe (‘Fleischerbeil’) both of which patterns I think have never been posted on here, but I’ll post those at a later time. Enjoy!

That is cool to see stuff from around the planet with different styles. I am in the USA, but my ancestor came over here from Germany in the 1830s to farm, so I always like seeing German stuff and appreciate it.
