german knife laws

anyone know the knife laws in germany..like lockblades etc???

Locking folders are no problem at all. You can carry them virtually everywhere, except at some special events where people are concerned about safety, like open air concerts or football matches. Fixed blades are also no problem, unless they're designed as weapons. However, if you don't want to cause any fuss you'd better leave that Busse Battle Mistress at home when you're shopping in the city.

What's important is that some types of knives are illegal, like balisongs, many automatics and push daggers. Generally speaking, you're OK as long as you stick to a middle of the road folder and behave responsibly. Flashing a big folder may cause a few raised eyebrows in some places, but that's probably no different from most other places in the world.

Even if they're designed for combat you can still legally own and carry them if you're at least 18 years old and don't take them to public events such as demonstrations or concerts - push daggers are the only fixed blades that are illegal over here.

By the way, if you happen to visit Austria, there are no knife laws there at all AFAIK.

So you can EDC a fixed blade? Or a giant folder?

And your government is finally focused on re igniting your economy?

And you're only 6 or 7 hours drive away from me? and I can live and work there with no visa/ permit?

Maybe I should finally finish learning German :D
