German made Hudson Bay axe

Hi, all. It's been a while. Nice to see you all still here.

Over the holidays I picked up this little West German made Hudson Bay axe. Note the little v-notch just in front of the eye.

I haven't weighed it yet but it's the typical size of an Hudson Bay (like an old Collins), I'd venture close to 1-3/4 pounds.

Just weighed it, it's a hair over 2 pounds. The little notch is distinctive.

i have one made in germany more modern i guess and 600 grs weight . 50cm(20in) handle i made for it was coming loose well not exactly it was coming with a sound and a feel off breaking soon, i changed for a new one i made out off softer wood i'll need to replace when suitable billet is dry!
i'll check the notch to see if it is similar...
