A friend of mine picked this up at an auction very cheaply. It has a bend/set in the blade that he has asked me to take out.

Does anyone know what variant this one is? (I may have to figure out how to add images later this evening.)

Well, I was able to render a couple in that scattered string of tags.

On the host image pages you have, open the images in new tabs, then copy the urls and use the text window landscape icon above the text window.

I must meditate on the langet but I believe it is German made for a South American country in the late 19th century. The grip is a celluoid on top of wood.

Cheers

Ah yes, the Ecuador coat of arms. I would suspect police or infantry. My first guess in remembering was Chile ;) but I knew I would find it quickly.

Thanks that was exactly what I was looking for and saved me a lot of time. Makes complete sense, I was trying to match to some German State without success. I greatly appreciate it.
