German Paratrooper Knife - Interesting !

You can still get a german (Bundeswehr) paratrooper gravity knife (current issue though, not the ww2 type), although it will not have the marlin spike, and it has green plastic scales. I believe the current (issue) ones are still made by Eickhorn.

I've got the current model. It's a fun knife to add to a collection, doesn't cost much, but it isn't the greatest blade steel or design, and the mechanism leaves a lot of room for blade play (wobble). It makes a fair beater, I guess, but it's also illegal in many jurisdictions, since "gravity knife" and "switchblade" definitions usually get tossed into the same laws.

Diamond,
actually thats a consumer market novelty (made for colt), not a current issue version.

rev_jch, check out this page from Eickhorn-Solingen of German combat knives. The LL 80 paratrooper commando knife is at the bottom.

I don't understand why you call it a novelty version. I got one from 1SKS. It has the Colt logo and name on the blade, but the handle even has the LL 80 designation molded in.

I call it a novelty because that what it reminds me of, not the (green) issue knife, but a re-worked "colt logo" version.

Yes, I was trying to tell him that there is a current(not issued) version of that model. Sorry for any confusion.

I guess it depends on what you mean by current. I ordered an LL80 (Black) direct from Eickhorn a couple of years ago. It is the model that they still show a picture of on their site.
Have not used it much, because for some reason i thought it would be smaller..
Anyway, there is an American Distributor as well, they ship the green handled model.

A gentleman had provided you a link for them above I believe.
Cool thing about it is that you can take it apart for cleaning or blade replacement.

I would agree that the blade quality is not the best, but with some elbow grease, it'll still shave your arm.

I just wanted to inform you that Eickhorn went belly up with EUR 3.000.000,-- debts some months ago.

Apearantly an scotish investor bought the company and trademarks but the ongoing production of consumer cutlery aswell as military service knives isn't secured yet.
