german WWII swords

Welcome to Bladeforums! I'll move this thread to the sword forum for you; somebody there will be able to help you.

Also, ask this in Bernard Levine's forum. LTC. Thomas Johnson is a big time collector/dealer in German edged weapons, Mr. Levine probably knows how to contact him.

:).

I would be extremely careful in buying or selling German WWII items, there are one Hell of a lot of forgeries floating around and there are a whole lot of rather unscrupulous people who trade in that market. This is NOT pointing at either of the above persons, understand, but a very much more general warning made on the basis of what has happened to friends.

As mentioned, there is a huge amount of fake nazi militaria on the market. The good news for you is that nazi swords are not faked as often as the nazi daggers.

One of the main factors in determining the value is the sword's branch of service ( Luftwaffe, army, navy, SS, police...) For example a Luftwaffe sword is usually worth more than an army sword...
