Picked this up today in an antique store. Can anyone give me info on it . The only markings on it are Germantown. Thanks

Germantown tool works , I believe they closed in the 50's.

I would say it's what's called a Car builders hatchet, i do not know exactly what that means in the context of the tool but it's little more than a general carpentry tool.
Just a little different than the standard octagonal poll half hatchet, looks like a common riggers axe like Vaughan still makes but they're not as heavy.
