Hi,
I'm a new member and I've just been given 3, G. Weinand knives. They are various length blades (7" , 4 1/2", & a 4" ) All are brand new never used pieces and I was hoping someone could give me an idea of their value.
For instance, all the knives have horn handles of some kind. One looks more like stag horn to me. All have brass hand guards(?) and rivet pins.
The blades all appear to be made of dendritic D2 steel and are highly polished with G.Weinand's stamped big horn sheep emblem on them. Also, one is marked cryogenic treated.
Any advice as to their value and any comments would be appreciated.
Thank you,............Ned Kelly Gang

I know him fairly well and see him at shows a couple times a year. He is one of the big wigs in the Montana Knifemakers Association. His blades are all well made and priced to sell. He has his methods down and produces allot of knives per year. Several of them go to Alaska and are sold to tourists. He a great guy and knows more about damascus, including stainless damascus than most of us. As a fellow maker Im not going to try to value his work.

I met Gerome today - he mentioned you Bruce, said you were a friend of his. He should be back on the forum here shortly. I don't think he'd mind me saying that much anyways. I just picked up one of his knives today and really like it a lot. Very nice guy as well.

Thanks for that. Im proud to call him friend too. Do you live in Missoula? Do you go to the MKA show? See ya there this summer?

Like Bruce I've known Gerome mainly from the shows in the northwest but did run into him at the Vegas Show a couple years ago. Gerome probably sells more of his steel than he does his knives. I think what Bruce ment about the wigs is that Gerome needs one like myself. I have always enjoyed seeing him at shows!

I've got about 7 of his knives, in all sorts of exotic handle material. Unfortunately, I need to sell them. Does anyone have a suggestion as to a venue or person who may be interested?

Thanks,

Eric
