Two knives I recently purchased from dutch knifemaker Gert Van Den Elsen.

The dagger has a blade of damascus forged by german knifesmith Achim Wirtz, and a handle with damascus fittings, "Steller Sea Cow" bone, silver accents in the guard and pommel.

The puuko has a blade of O1 with a "hammered" finish, a handle of the oak burl with a spacer and endcap of boxwood.

Nice leather sheaths complete the package.

Jos,

They're both nice, but the Dagger really speaks to me... He did a great job making it "vintage" and elegant at the same time. Congrats on a beautiful acquisition.

that's awesome...i have a bare blade katana made by Gert...:) thanks for sharing...great to know he's still active.

Nice score, Jos. Is Achim going to be at Gembloux and does he normally sell pieces of his wootz? I wouldn't mind having a little bar of that in my supply stash.

Hi Joe,

Yes Achim is going to be at Gembloux, and he usually has a lot of damascus to sell. Don't know about the wootz, but he will probably have some of that also.

Kind regards,

Jos
