I'm having difficulty getting light colors to stay light. The 2 inner ply's are the welt and dyed Feibing's (oil) yellow before being glued/sewed to the outer. They don't end up staying yellow at the end of the day after burnishing or even buffing. Any thoughts on how to get more vibrant colors on end grain?

This is the sheath it goes with...my first attempt. Lots of fingernail marks even after being told...:o

Burnishing will cause the edge to darken. Burnishing a undyed edge turns brown so a dyed will change a bit as well.
I dig the color combo though.
great idea

I have not played with two many colors personally but can say that things like yellow are hard to get to be stead fast with dye. You can get somewhat of a color change with it but to be a nice stead fast vibrant yellow I think you will have to play with some paints of some type. There are ones that work pretty good but I dont have any experience with working with them so cant give ya any help sorry.

Another thing you can try is angelus dyes. Forgot who sells them but I have scene work where they were used that turned out really good with the various colors. Ofcourse it could be the leather as well and many other conditions. I use fiebings oil dyes myself and have good luck with oranges and reds showing up but not yellow.
