Thx.
Not much 'planning' involved
It was just a fun DIY project to turn a generic very cheap axe into something a tad more interesting in a beard-like style.
But actually, Ive found out, that the modded 'viking axe' is very versatile.
Ones fingers fit under the beard for fine work.
For sideways scraping, the axe head now offers a better hand hold, as I can hold it a tad higher up. Three fingers in the notch created by removing metal under the beard, one finger alongside the axe head and the hammer poll in the palm of your hand = excellent control (if that makes any sense).
Also the axe can now be used like a Ulu because your fingers/hand fit in the notch and one can exert direct downwards pressure with far better control for meat processing.
Uncertain re your 'looks aint everything, when the chips are down' comment - not sure, I understand?
Most often this is a self defense phrase.
The beard axe was not made with self defense in mind (see top of this post).
You'd be better off with a gun for that.
If the 'chips' comment is s wood chips pun, then Im down with that

- the new improved beard axe offers a better hand hold and still has plenty of 'swing' and oomph. Its excellent at making wood chips.
Ill be sure to beat the snot out of it this weekend and snap a few pics of the viking-inspired axe in action when making some firewood.
