Today my toast caught on fire and I need to do something to get of the smell. I've opened all the doors and windows, run a HEPA filter and the A/C fan and five hours later the smell remains.

I'm thinking of scrubbing down the kitchen with vinegar. Any other ideas?

How big of a fire was this, usually a couple candles will get rid of it,maybe there is still some pieces in the toaster.

Maybe you're having a stroke?

;)

Thanks tortoise,
Yeah, a stroke of bad luck. It turned out to be 'one of those days'.:)

I was upstairs and didn't see the fire, but I sure saw the smoke; the lucky person TRYING to eat breakfast got to deal with the flaming toast.

The odor seems to be localized in the cabinetry were the toast caught fire. I isolated the toaster, even used it again--no smell. I wound up wiping that section of the kitchen with a vinegar/water solution and some 12 hours later the smell is a bit reduced.

OTOH- moving is always a possibility.;) Yikes, toast anyone?

Ozone generator is used to clean smell from houses damaged by fire.

Bathe in tomato juice. Then place a clothespin on your nose for 4 weeks.

"Cook" some popcorn in the microwave on high heat for 63 minutes (63 minutes EXACTLY...no more, no less). Then I guarantee you won't care about the burnt toast smell.

If you pour kerosene on your toaster and set it ablaze in the middle of the kitchen, the burning kerosene might knock out the burnt toast smell.

Or try waiting for more than 1 day.....

With so many good ideas afloat I'm hard pressed to choose.;) Hmmm......popcorn, kerosene, insect bomb, tomato juice bath................call me crazy but somehow I like yours the best. By last night we were down to a mere 'old campfire' smell and today the smell is minimal.

Part of my problem was that I had a guest coming yesterday morning and didn't want the place smelling like a fire pit.

And what, exactly, is wrong with the smell of a fire pit? Hmmmmm?

Good point. Well, I'll put it to you this way: when your whole house smells like a fire pit you may have a problem.:D But maybe that is a good thing, never occurred to me.;)
