Get together at my place

I like the single malt scotch tasting event part ! I wont be able to make it out your way for the event (though it sounds awesome) but i'll hoist a dram in your direction to commemorate it =)

Man, i WISH I could be there...

To any newbies within a day's drive of Kevin. GO TO THIS EVENT. You will learn more than you can possibly imagine....

What a fantastic challenge. I wish it was within my grasp to attend. I will also be drinking alone, but will not let that dampen my enthusiasm for the tasting.
Good for you:thumbup:

Wow, that a long trip on a bike, I will look forward to seeing you.

I hope to get Rick Barret and some other established makers in the Great Lakes area to stop in for some chit chat, I will try to keep folks updated on who may be coming. Delbert said he may make it and if he does I really think he should try to drag Tim Zowada along with him.

Kevin Casey's in Battle Creek... he's not a forumite, but his work is nothing to sneeze at. A couple of my blacksmith buddies know him, but I haven't met him myself. You don't happen to know him, do you?

I'll be there, although no promises about dragging Tim Zowada along. I will ask and encourage him to come though.
Thanks,
Del

Actually Kevin is on my short list of Michigan makers to specifically invite. We talked a bit at the Blade show so he knows about the plan and knows he will be getting a heads up.

Asking will only give him a choice, ask him to show you how to grind something and then throw a grain bag over his head while his back is turned and hog tie him. If you still drive that big old car you had the last time you drove to my place he should fit in the trunk just fine. :D

I dont know if I can go but I will help with getting Tim in the trunk. I think he may be strong for a little guy!:)

What would be a good "big prize" for a the scotch drawing on Saturday night? What would be doable with a tight schedule and desirable to all concerned? I would be willing to offer a blade except I can't meet my order right now much less squeeze in a give away knife and besides, we are mostly knifemakers... I thought about making some damascus or some other supply sort of thing we could all use.

What do you guys think?

Any ideas?
