Hey, I am looking at joining a hiking club in MD. I had the opportunity to several years ago, but didn't. I love the solitude of hiking, but I don't get out as much as I should. I am a big sumbitch, and have posted about this before on here, but it's probably cabin fever settling in that makes me post this again. I was wondering if any members in central MD/southern PA/northern DE would want to get together for some hikes. Like I said, I am a big guy, with bad knees, that don't work so well in this weather. However, I really would like to start getting out when nice weather comes back (above 45 degrees). I might be slow, but I'll be telling jokes during the huffing and puffing. Want to start back out on paved/gravel/mulch etc paths, before I get to my short term goal, a full day on the Appalachian trail in Middletown MD. Anything flat might be boring, but my endurance is pretty good on flat ground. Big hills can be a problem. Always looking for scenic vistas, like everyone else on here. Light hiking, three miles max.

Fat, skinny, young, old. Doesn't matter. Anyone wanna go for a hike?

BTW, I am on the MD/PA line, about ten miles east of I-83, northwestern Harford county.

Have you asked Scott Gossman?

If I was closer I'd do it. I'm old chubby and slow on the trail.

I would be game, I am in annapolis about a 1/2 mile from the little bridge that crosses the bay;). I do alot of hiking and tend to mix it with my fishing etc. Let me know when and where and I'll see if I can meet up. I do alot of hiking at Patapsco, I particularly like a place just where route 29 N ends called the Daniels region. I fish there alot.

I'm about ten minutes south of Balto. I hike a lot, got quite a few people that might be interested as well. Send me an email.

Well, get the brakes on today, and new tires tomorrow, the oddyssey of getting an 85 Toyota pickup on the road (car took a crap in January, and is now at Crazy Ray's junkyard. Driving a loaner back and forth to work). Next weekend won't be going anywhere, but will be at Washington Monument state park on April 9th, with my little brother, unless his girlfriend has other plans ;). Going to the Frederick knife show beforehand, and then Edgeworks. Hoping to make it out to the park around 3pm, after taking my little brother to Antietam and Crystal Grottoes caves.

Hey SHS, gunshow at Delta Peach Bottm fish and game this weekend. Craig and I are going in the AM.

I just saw this post. I haven't been spending too much time in W&SS lately. Just lurking a bit. I'd be up for hittin' the trail or a little Patapsco River trout fishing. My brother lives about 5 minutes from where 29 ends. I fished the Patapsco once many years ago I still remember that day like it was yesterday. I think I caught 4 good ones. Almost the limit of five. I think trout season just opened yesterday. I'll have to check the stocking schedule. As far as hiking goes I like to take it easy myself. Slow would NOT be a problem. Let me know!

Ha, I got ya beat, I'm all those things and ugly too! :D:D:D

Good luck finding the hiking mates SHS, getting so mates to go with you is a good way of keeping your commitments to a bit of dirt time and also makes some things more enjoyable.

All day putting brakes on Saturday, got home, and found out the alternator was bad. Now, gotta get the truck back to the shop, and put an alternator in. :D

Needless to say, I missed it. Isn't there another one coming up? Say hi to Craig for me.

SHS, let me know when and where you have in mind and I'll try to make it. I like to hike places where i can fish too. Send me an email if you prefer.
