You can aslo get a new swell-butt Trapper and a Muskrat for $25 each - both with the USA tang stamp.

Man,these must be new,old stock found in a warehouse in the Catskills!!!
But wait, what's this fine print down in the corner?

Aw shit,more crap from Tennessee!:thumbdn:
Can't even trust a USA tang stamp anymore!!

Anybody know who's manufacturing out these counterfeits?
Better look closely at what you're bidding on,on eBay !!

Didn't we discuss that Camillus was making some of these with the Waldem tang stamp?

Some of those others, I'm not sure...

Codger had previously posted a scan of the packaging; see the last sentence in the second paragraph:

Glenn,
I agree,Camillus would be on my list, plus Bear.
Levine's 5th-2001-page 125 - "1990-Camillus buys stake in Smoky Mountain Knife Works, where part of it's factory collection is now on display".
The way the Tennessee mafia is making repros/counterfeits these days, anybody interested in getting into collecting knives better carry a jar of vaseline.

Camillus is making the Yellow handle Schrade-Waldens with the oval shield. (Crest shield ones are made in China, though.)
I got a (SWA)834Y and it is identical to this Camillus: Gran'pa Three Blade Stockman ( #CGP34 )
It is a fine knife and very very close to a Schrade 34. Note the model number. There are a lot of similarities & close ties with Camillus, this is just one example.
The wood-handled USA-made Schrade-Waldens look like they're made by Bear & Son. I don't have one to compare directly.
Both Bear and Camillus are fine US companies, I'm glad to see them get the business. That said, when you buy one of these you are getting a Bear or a Camillus with a SW tang stamp. How satisfying that is, is a personal matter.

Interesting, but I'll continue to pass on these. If I want a Camillus knife, I'll buy a Camillus knife. If I want a Schrade-Walden, I'll buy a S-W from somewhere. Many tens of thousands were made over the years and they are not scarce. No need for all the musical tang stamp games, this type of crap is only good for muddying the waters for new collectors.

I suppose that 50 years from now these could be a very scarce offshoot for collectors to pursue, but right now it seems like nonsense to me. I guess if they were making a higher end knife, I would be more interested, but its a basically a Cam-Yellow Jacket type knife - yellow derlin and SS blades. Nothing that makes me want to break into the kids piggybanks. All they are really selling you is a tangstamp.

"Selling the Tang Stamp" is about right. That's a good one.

Camillus divested itself of any ownership in Smokey a while back.
