R version
(I just wanna thank Kevin Seastrom for gifting me the 2020 Traditional Forum’s knife to keep the continuity of the TF knife intact.
One of the many generous members on BF it’s folks like Kevin who keep this a place people like to come back to. Folks like kevin have kept me coming back for over 20 years. Thanks again Kevin, you’re one of the good ones. )
The long Ted version.
What a great place, with so many great people, generous people.
Let me start by saying, I’ve been barely keeping up on the Forum, visiting occasionally, responding rarely and contributing even less.
As a result I missed out on last years Forum knife. Admittedly, I wasn’t really into the idea of the new knife,(2020) wasn’t gonna be made in tThe US. That bothered me a little, I honestly thought that the 2020 Traditional Forum knife was gonna be the swan song for annual knife.
To me the signs were there, not made in the US, no 10 dot custom tangstamp, these were hallmarks of the annual knife to me. I gotta say, I lost interest in the whole process. (I wanna thank everyone who kept the faith and got another knife produced to keep it going.
Things going on over the last 18 months contributed to my absence from the forum and you know what they say, “ Outta sight outta mind.” I didn’t think about it again till I decided it was time to come back and be a contributing member of the community like I used to be.
You know how I said outta sight outta mind before? Well you guys never forgot, I came on and the welcome back was heart warming. The people here on the forum are more family than coming in some respects.
So in coming back I decided that since I was the the self appointed, uncontested historian and keeper of the BFC/SFO annual knife for the Traditional subforum. (Probably the longest continuous sequentially manufactured knife in our forum history.) I needed to pick up where I left off and try to find last years knife. I didn’t even know east it was.
I put out a post that I was back and looking for help finding the knife missing from the Forum collection. It couldn’t have been more than an hour when I popped back on to make another post and I saw a member was trying to contact me and of course my mailbox was at its limit already.
Well turns out The member trying to contact me was Kevin Seastrom. He was trying to contact me to let me know he had a 2020 Swayback for me and would send it right out. He said it was a gift from him and he was happy to help me keep the collection intact.
I seem to say this a lot and I don’t know why, this forum and its members Have always been involved and generous to a fault. Always ready to come to another members aid. Whether it’s to help out with information, a knife or in some cases something more valuable than anything you can put in your pocket, friendship.
I’ve made a lot of friends here in the last 20+ years, so many good people here that it so outweighs the negative.
Kevin, your good people and I just wanna say again how’s much I appreciate the gift, it out a big smile on my face in a time I could use one.
The Swayback will get carried and used, we don’t don’t own no safe queens, we’ll maybe a couple.
Here’s a couple pics of the 2029 Traditional forum knife, a gift from Kevin, thanks my friend it’ll get carried and used for certain.
More pics to come
