Getting a Ding out

I cut a zip-tie with the serrated blade of my Supertool 300 but it put a ding in it. The ding is in PE portion of the tip and appears to bend toward the the side that is not ground. I'm use a Lansky and a Sharpmaker to maintain edges but I'm not sure what to do since this is a chisel grind.

if the ding isnt bad i wouldnt worry about it. each time you sharpen the knife it will take some of the ding out. you can try to work the ding out by pushing the ding back the other way with a steel rod but its possible you could cause it to chip.

Thanks. I'll see how it affects performance. It's just irritating to have it happen the first time I used it.

If you don't have a coarse stone home depot sells a norton stone for 5 dollars. Using short 1in strokes back and forth grind the main bevel and every few minutes use your med ceramic nearly flat on the unground side to knock down the burr. Continue until damage is gone or you can simply remove the high spots with a few light passes from the ceramic and worry about removing the damage later.

If you're going to sharpen serrations, use the sharpmaker. Put the stones so the corner is out to where you'd sharpen, and just sharpen the side where the serrations are cut in. When you're done lightly run the flat of the stone on the opposite side flat to the blade, or a hair up so you dont scratch the blade if you care, to kick the burr the other way. I then do one light pass (let the blade weight set the touch) on the white stones then thats it.

Thanks for the suggestions. If performance is affected or it just keeps bugging me I'll try knifenut1013's suggestion. SuzukiGS750EZ I'm lucky that the damage is on the PE tip of the blade and I don't have to fiddle with the serrations.
