Getting a dog...want to make a collar

Hey guys!
Me and my girlfriend have been talking about getting a dog and today we put down a deposit for a puppy.
I'm very excited and of coarse ive decided I want to make a nice collar for him.
The problem is I don't have the right kind of leather I was thinking a nice latigo might be best but I don't want to buy a ton of it for this one project.
I was hoping someone here might be willing to sell me a bit? If possible I'd like a dark brown or oxblood for color.Any help is appreciated thanks guys!
 
Just saw this. I've made quite a few out of veggie tan. They are kinda more complicated then they seem. But I lined all mine. If ya go single ply they are probably less complicated. They darken up with use and turn dark brown. Good luck and congrats on the pup!

I've made a couple in the past so I'm fairly confident I'll probably head up to Tandy sometime this week and see what catches my eye.
In reality there's no point in putting a ton of effort in right away he's going to get big fast.
