I know very little about these knives. How can I get my hands on a top of the line khuk? I've heard about himalayan imports, but also about cold steel. any input would be appreciated.

Also, any recommended reading materials about the gurkhas would be great (books, links to online articles, etc.).

Also...does anybody have any experience with bando and their use of the kukri?

Thanks guys!

is there a contact number or website for himalayan imports? are their khuks supposed to be THE top of the line? a description of their khuks would be great, plus anyone who's worked with them, or simply handled them would be appreciated.

thanks!

Ranges,go over to Makers/Mfgs. forum clik on Himalayan Imports read the FAQS and safety thread then pose any questions to the forum. you'll find they are a great bunch with a wacky sense of humor as for the quality of Khuk's... great!!! bought six in 1 month! Akabu

Ranges: No I will not sell my lovely K's as I've grown greatly attached to them it's a form of ill'ness called HIKV as Jim can attest to, and as you will find out if you buy a HI Khukuri!! here are some site's to vist and reseach-- www.khukrihouse.com www.physics.mun.ca:80/~sstamp/knives/reviews.html You can do search for Bando /American bando association or Dr.Maung Gyi the founder with search here or net seach. Enjoy Akabu

dangit! Ah well, thought I'd try. I'm getting into edged weapons recently, particularly the bowie (I have 2 ontario hell's belles so far, a second and a first) and the khukuri. So I'm looking into all types of stuff: comtech, bando, etc., to expand my knowledge. thanks for the links you've been sending me!

As for books. Go to a book finder and look for a series by John Masters, The Night Runners of Bengal, Bhowani Junction, The Deceivers, and many more. These are historical fiction, or a ficticious person set in actual historic events. There is a lot about the Ghurka's. Another is, The Road Past Mandalay, sort of an autobiography of John Masters WWII experiences, he led the 2/4 Ghurka Rifles, in combat. I think you will like them, I know I do.

thanks! Looks long, I'll read it when I get home (looks like my weekend will be full...).

finally did it.

bought two from Uncle bill:

25" sirupati by sanu

18" WWII khuk by kumar.
