Today, no. 3 made it's appearance. 18", 18 oz., fragrant Neem handle. Curviest one in the pic, lightest too.... but this thing is unlike anything else. What was Sher thinking? The answer is in the knife...

Attached is a pic of the 18", 18 oz. Neem SAS, along with a beautiful hanshee I picked up, to demonstrate the aggressive curve angle, as ddean pointed out. A big honkin' 20" villager shows scale. (sorry, pic could be better)

Chainpuri handle. A good thing, although my chainpuri is a lot straighter than this.

Nice checkering and white metal non-habaki bolster. 2 more things I like.

The grip.... I find myself taking an "M-43" grip with this... where it's more centered in your hand than to the left side next to the thumb. It's a secure but different grip than usual- trigger finger forward, wraps around bolster. Feels good.

About this 2" space... this is key. Sher has indeed "eliminated the cho, and the ground it walked on", as brother munk pointed out. There has to be a reason...

First off, it allows you to choke up. I tried wrapping it with paracord, but I'm not sure that's what he intended. Choking up, you can make fine cuts, like sharpening a pencil or something. This sucker came somewhat sharp :foot: except the first couple inches.

When choking up, the balance obviously shifts and it feels a lot different in hand. This reminds me of the choil/choke up area on Swamp Rat Knives... I have 2 I really like, Bandicoot and the SAR model. They feel great in the hand for that reason- almost like a different knife, depending on the grip one chooses. This has that going on.

Also, the kamis know we have bigger hands than we do. You can stretch fingers forward into that area... you could have 2 finger choils there, I just checked. It should be checkered or something... No, maybe leather, like those hand-and-a-half swords... Maybe not. Think I like it smooth.

The design threw off the sarkis, I'd say. Sheath, lil too tight, and the cho-less bottom edge tends to pull the leather tucked inside, out. Easy fixes.

All in all, some mysteries remain. It's not a khuk, but you can chop wood with it. Lighter, flatter khuks cut brush for me usually, not curvy ones. You could thrust with it, and I can easily see a long, wicked false edge. Quite possibly a fighter. The striking spot/sweet spot seems way forward.

Think I will just use it, and see what it does best. The design secrets will reveal themselves.

Oh, yeah. I like it. Many thanks, Yangdu!

I think mine was 22 ounces or so. I noticed the spread was from 18 ounces to 23? I forget...anyway.. enough variance in there to make many different hands and bodies happy swinging the steel.

Mine came in at 21oz according to Yangdu's scales. This is the perfect weight for me for this type of knife. I hope the roads clear soon enough so that I can make it to the woodpile at my mom's house. Hopefully, It'll get to do double duty to see how it handles both wood chopping as well as brush clearing. She has a large creek at the back of her property that needs a path blazed to it. Normally, this would be the 20" Kobra's territory. However, I feel that this new Sher model, although a bit less in reach, will offer up some extra beef to get the job done even better. I could really see myself packing this blade along as a great camp knife. As Mike said, the flat part allows you to choke up on the blade for much finer cuts. Sticks for your marshmellows and emergency tent pegs would be much easier to make with this than say a khuk. Likewise, the weight reduction wouldn't fatigue the hands like a beefy ol' Rose or AK Bowie would. It really does feel like a big mutated YCS karda.
Great pics, Mike:)

I finally got mine tonight!!! I also had a 22" Chilangi with a Neem handle in the huge triangle box :D

The 'Attitude' is very interesting to say the least. It does beg to be used  Chop, slice, jab I will do it all for you.....;)
My sheath is not that bad. I used my JKM to slice off a bit of excess leather in the mouth of the sheath. So, now it's snug but not too tight.
I can see why this is a favorite to carry while hiking. It's light and has a streamlined sheath compared to most Khuks.

The Satisal handle is drinking up Danish Oil as I type. Now to start sanding the huge Neem handle on the behemoth 22" Chitlangi.

It has been a very good week. Thank you Yangdu!!!:D :D

Thanks for the pics.

The Attitude looks like it's too dramatically curved for me- I had a M43 hybrid that just felt completely wrong. I didn't know how to use the balance...

This was the curviest one- most were straighter (and heavier by a couple oz.).
It's not real representative... see the DoD for 12/4.

I wanted a curvy light one 'cause I like that hanshee so much, and it's only about 17 oz.

Khuks usually have that forward weight that gives it the "smack"...

I do think of this as an unusual draw knife, less khukuri.

Blade mikes .28 or 9/32", 18.2 oz.

Skinny for us, but a SWRK Coot measures .21 or 7/32, and they don't break with use.

Yes, I have a new caliper. :foot: Big khuk above is .3750 or 3/8.

Sweet review. I'm just spoken for right now. I did want the M43 the other day, and don't plan to hesitate on one of those ever again. But even though the price was GREAT on these SAS I gotta wait for the FF.
